"On May 17th, VoiceChanger invited Chen Fan, a senior language trainer in Shanghai, to deliver an online lecture to parents on building children's self-confidence in expressing themselve. The highlights of the lecture are to be covered in this article.
- What is 'expressing with confidence?'
1. Express their emotions and thoughts
The most basic ability to express with confidence is to learn to actively express your thoughts.

It will alleviate the anxiety of many parents if children can actively express their emotions and feelings to parents, instead of replacing them with silence.

When the child is silent, parents should understand if the child will actively express his/her thoughts and needs, which actually depends mainly on whether the child has the ability to actively communicate.

Expressing ideas and needs does not mean that you must be able to speak very well. As long as there is a tendency to communicate, it proves that children can actively express themselves.

Parents hope that when their children have thoughts and emotions, they can actively express then through words. They hope to get their children's response when talking to their children.

Children of different ages have different communication methods and skills. Parents must first understand  the common way of expressing needs of certain age and then adjust according to it.

2. Communicate with fluency
All parents hope that their children will use words and sentences flexibly to narrate their own stories fluently, and to use correct grammar to express.

But the child's age, experience, and the way how parents get along with them also influence whether they can communicate with people fluently.

Different children have different skills to express themselves, and parents can pay attention to their children's language development without having to worry too much.

3. Express with clarity
The degree of language clarity will affect the child's motivation to express.

Some parents may also observe that there are always a few sounds that a child could not pronounce clearly.

In the early stages, children begin to learn pinyin and to recognize words. At this time, parents are more sensitive to their children's speech performance than before.

In fact, this is related to the development of the child's phonological process. The pronunciation organs were not mature enough due to physiological constraints. They did not reach the adult's mature voice system, so children would regularly simplify or reorganize the adult's voice.

Similar to the development of language proficiency, the development of speech is also different in order of age, so parents should pay special attention to how to help children develop good phonological rules and develop speech that meets their age. Also, how to guide if there is an erroneous voice."
