Lalashou (meaning “Let’s Hold Hands”) Special Education Centre in Xi’an,China is a charity initially set up by the parents of children who suffer from Autistic Disorder, dysgnosia or other cognitive disabilities in the city. It provides practical help to the disabled children and their families, boosting social awareness and supported, and facilitating knowledge and skills sharing between similar organisations in China. 

 

Miss. ZHANG Lifang serves as the Executive Director of Lalashou (meaning “Let’s Hold Hands”) Special Education Centre in Xi’an, China. Ms. Zhang’s charity journey started in 2003, when she joined one of her tutors to a three-month graduation project in a disadvantaged village. In there she had the first hands on experiences of the ideas and methodologies of social working, and fell in love with charitable works. Shortly after graduation from college, Ms. Zhang joined Lalashou, then a very small charity, and worked alongside its founders to turn this special education centre into an influential charitable organisation in west China. For her work,Ms. Zhang received many honours from within the charitable sector and from the local government.

 

Ms. Zhang executed many projects in Lalashou,including three Special Games for the disabled children, to demonstrate that they, too, could grow and live normally. She is gaining her experiences inexecuting larger projects in conjunction with international foundations, private enterprises and the government, hoping to raise social awareness and foster more support for the disadvantaged. With 10 years of working experience for charity, Zhang was becoming a professional and mature charity worker in her ownright.
